An Exceptional Stay At Hôtel la Pérouse Nice: Review
Where is Hôtel la Pérouse Nice?
This luxury, 4-star boutique hotel is located high above the Promenade des Anglais, tucked into the Colline du Château in Nice.
Conveniently located opposite the beach, five minutes away from Nice Old Town, our stay at Hôtel la Pérouse Nice encompassed everything that a luxury traveller desires in a weekend break: peace, comfort, and beautiful views.

We first glimpsed the luxury boutique hotel from a boat out at sea, looking back at Nice’s coast.
There in the heart of the French Riviera, regally embedded in a mountain cliff overlooking the city, along the Promenade des Anglais, sat the saffron yellow boutique hotel that would be our home for the weekend.
(Recent update: October 2023 – Hôtel la Pérouse Nice recently renovated! It was beautiful before the renovation and it’s even more beautiful now. If you don’t have time to read this article, I’d definitely recommend booking this gorgeous hotel.)

Service & Amenities at Hôtel la Pérouse
Because of its unique position in the mountain, Hôtel la Pérouse Nice has an interesting physical layout. Multiple lifts service different floors, and each room is built to suit, which makes them feel like your own personal little cave or nook. Getting around can be a maze-like adventure.
When we arrived, we were welcomed by the reception staff with warm smiles upon arrival, and the lovely manager Kristina personally gave us a tour around the hotel.

Swimming pool and sauna nestled at the foot of a mountain at Hôtel la Pérouse Nice
Hôtel la Pérouse Nice offers guests a whole host of relaxing amenities, including a swimming pool, a sauna, a roof terrace-cum-solarium bedecked with loungers, a small gym with exercise machines, and a Jacuzzi on the terrace.
I loved swimming in the pool as the sun rose higher towards midday. I’d go so far as to say Hôtel la Pérouse Nice is the best hotel in Nice with a swimming pool – let alone the best hotel in Nice!
If you stay in the dreamy Sea View Rooftop Suite, you’ll have your own private Jacuzzi to enjoy – as well as the most incredible views of Nice from your terrace, which is quite literally nestled beside the Colline du Château (Castle Hill) garden viewpoint.

We stayed in a Superior Room with Sea View at Hôtel la Pérouse Nice.
Key highlights were: a supremely comfortable king size bed, a Mediterranean bathroom tiled in rustic Italian marble, and the pièce de résistance – a gorgeous view.

Our balcony, overlooking the pool and dining terrace below, provided a stunning vista of the ocean with the Promenade stretched out on the left-hand side.
Nice Airport was visible in the distance, way across the water.
On our first night at Hôtel la Pérouse Nice, we curled up on the terrace with a bottle of wine. We watched airplanes take off and land over the ocean until the sun went down. It blissfully silent, though. All we could hear was the soft sound of the sea.

Petit Déjeuner
Waking up and seeing the sea from our Superior Sea View Room felt like a dream. Looking out onto the balcony, all we could see was water and sky – a gorgeous sight in the morning.
Our room included buffet breakfast in the main dining area and terrace, but room service happily offered for continental breakfast to be served on our balcony.

How do you like your eggs in the morning?

A selection from the breakfast buffet – includes scrambled eggs, bacon, charcuterie, croissants and fruit
We ventured down to the dining terrace, shaded by lemon trees and flora, to enjoy the buffet breakfast, which was simple and varied. On offer were fresh fruits, pancakes and home-baked pastries, cereals, cold cuts, and hot choices including scrambled eggs and bacon.
There was also a machine serving up freshly squeezed orange juice, which tasted divine.
Side note: if you opt to dine outside, the local seagulls will try and nab your croissants when you’re not looking.

Should You Book This Luxury Boutique Hotel in Nice?
We spent our last day in Nice enjoying the hotel Jacuzzi and soaking up the sun at the swimming pool. It was the most relaxed I’ve ever been before a flight. The hotel staff at the lobby organised a taxi for us to get back to the airport.
Our stay at Hôtel la Pérouse Nice was flawless. The staff were kind, professional, and courteous. From the moment we checked into our room, it felt like we were in our own private haven along the French Riviera.
I could happily have spent the entire weekend in Nice sitting on our balcony, drinking wine, and watching the ocean.
